Camp this week will be an adventure... I adore our cabin -- they've got personality oozing out of htem, which is really refreshing. Spent most of the first day with our one-on-one camper, an amazing young woman with downs and a whole lot of personality. She has trouble with my name, though, so I've learned to answer to anything that sounds remotely like Bridgette... namely, "Brabridge," "Porchette," and something that sounds a bit like "Virgin."
To which I respond, "yes, Mary?"
teehee.
And she's got this scruffy little voice that just makes you laugh.
Sadly, one of our campers' father is really sick and probably will pass away in the next few days, so working with her has an extra level of love involved.
Another awesome camper in our cabin is this incredible big old lady with a tun of spunk and a hilarious personality. She's decided that Cory is her husband, so every time she sees me talking to him she says something like, "Why you movin' in on my husband like that".. and she just sits there and mumbles under her breath things like "oh, you fine boy with those gorgeous legs.." to the other guy counselors. It's really awkward, but really funny.
On of her friends is in our cabin, too... and she's probably one of our most challenging campers. She's angry and she doesn't sleep. And she runs away. And she talks to herself.... and has a history of trying to knock counselors out when they anger her. But she's absolutely hilarious. And "Cory's wife" helps out by chasing her down in the middle of the night with us every time she tries to leave (thank God for door alarms)
"Take a big bite... one, two..." "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"
Welcome to meal time. She's absolutely nuts. But I love her.
So yes, an interseting week ahead!!
