cold noses and numb fingers

yep. found another joyful day in photography and good conversations with old friends. i'm starting to love what i'm making of charleston, which i feel is a lot more healthy than hating what i've made of charleston in the past.

christmas cards are fun, too. got one today from my old best friend from elementary school and their family. the card starts out to say that the older of the two sisters (the "perfect child") just got engaged. and then the last paragraph says that my friend had a baby. no mention of a daddy, just a picture of the beautiful baby girl and a blurb about changing diapers and trying to still attend classes. stark contrast, no?

oh, life.

worked on presents a little more today, then went out to lunch with mom at this yummy little restaurant called five loaves.. amazing soups and sandwiches. after lunch, i took off downtown, emptied the few coins in my wallet into a parking meter, threw on my ugly old middle school jacket that i had found in my trunk, and took off taking pictures.

there's something totally liberating about taking off with a camera... it's like a little artistic quest for beauty in places it would often be overlooked, you know? and there's a huge difference between seeking beauty in people and beauty in places. i feel like charleston has a deep combination of the two -- the beauty of a place enchanted by people.

dinner at kyle's tonight was lovely -- i absolutely love that family, i absolutely love kyle... there's a christmas party on wednesday that will be pretty exciting (partially kidding... large groups of high school kids is always a chaotic adventure...). enough said :)

i really need to finish my christmas cards. or they won't make it out by christmas. hmm. and nolan took over my computer and tried to mail out something to do with hillary clinton looking like an elf. so i need to get on that, too. ::sigh::
