shells

hermit crabs need new shells after awhile. they outgrow them. we outgrow ours, too.

i'm sure i'm just as guilty of this whole judgement thing as the next person.. but it it really that hard to respect change?

i think a big thing thats tugging on my heart is that i'm happy and loving life now... but we all have bad moments we'd like to forget -- rough times or rocky roads that brought out the worst in us. i'm so sick of everyone at home focusing on everyone else's rough spots. maybe we're just all insecure of our own pasts -- none of us are completely happy with who we were in high school, so we compensate by bringing out the worst in the next person.

i'll be the first to admit that i occasionally wish i could take a giant erasor to parts of my past -- ugh, i've been a moron. but i also understand i'm not living in that shell anymore -- God provides us with plenty of newer, bigger shells to move into. they feel spacious and lonely sometimes, but we grow into them and fill them. we make them our own, we make them beautiful... and then it's time to streak to the next shell ;)... which in and of itself is always an adventure.

i like my current shell. and the people in it. and the people who drop by to visit every now and then... most of them, anyway. but i'm getting sick of people barging in and making a spectacle.

maybe i need a lock ;)
