magical because she's going to have to fit a whole lotta stuff in her tonight. i hope she's ready.
girl only because she has been branded with a cute pink palmetto sticker on her back window. i suppose she could be a "confident male," as well.. sportin' the pink thing.
wade and tj and i tried to come up with names last night. which turned out to be a hilarious codine-filled adventure through the magical world of baby names, best movie characters of all time, and romantic pet names. favorites include... ace, daisy, tramp (as in the lady and the..), herbert (if a boy), andre (if a boy; because of its champagne color. but i can't name my car after cheap champagne. i just can't.), audrey, chloe (but i think someone already has a chloe car), and maria. and nebuchadnezzar. but i wouldn't go there.
tramp was my favorite until one of the guys pointed out that i would often say "okay, everyone get in the tramp." not okay.
so tramp is out. unless it gets a flat tire, slams into a bridge, or blows up. then "tramp" it is.
i kind of like tramp. it's got that old 20s mysterious vibe to it. take away the scandal and impurity, and its kind of a cutesy flapper type nickname.
tramp is actually a very diverse word. according to dictionary.com...
tramp /træmp/
–verb (used without object)
1. to tread or walk with a firm, heavy, resounding step.
2. to tread heavily or trample (usually fol. by on or upon): to tramp on a person's toes.
3. to walk steadily; march; trudge.
4. to go on a walking excursion or expedition; hike.
5. to go about as a vagabond or tramp.
6. to make a voyage on a tramp steamer.
–verb (used with object) 7. to tramp or walk heavily or steadily through or over.
8. to traverse on foot: to tramp the streets.
9. to tread or trample underfoot: to tramp grapes.
10. to travel over as a tramp.
11. to run (a ship) as a tramp steamer.
–noun 12. the act of tramping.
13. a firm, heavy, resounding tread.
14. the sound made by such a tread.
15. a long, steady walk; trudge.
16. a walking excursion or expedition; hike.
17. a person who travels on foot from place to place, esp. a vagabond living on occasional jobs or gifts of money or food.
18. a sexually promiscuous woman; prostitute.
19. a freight vessel that does not run regularly between fixed ports, but takes a cargo wherever shippers desire. Compare cargo liner.
20. a piece of iron affixed to the sole of a shoe.
... so there you have it. "tramp" could refer to the hike-like adventures that will be had, the nomadic life of a college student (vagabond), a carter of cargo... or a prostitute. kind of funny, if you think about it.
today was a thinking day. packed everything... drove the car for the first time... mom's already trying to convince me not to take it to school for the first few weeks. she doesn't get it. i've been looking forward to this since the minivan-meets-bridge incident of 2004.
the tooth fairy said my teeth aren't infected, they're just healing super slow for some strange reason. usually i'm healthy as a horse... i'm thinking maybe my immune system is still upset about the minor battle with mono last term. that and the stress of moving back to school.
wade and i went to moes today... and it was a very good birth control experience. see.. catholics don't use contraceptives. we don't need to. we learn the consequences of actions via observation... and watching the swarms of small children running around moe's at five o'clock, screaming at the top of their lungs and throwing tutus... was enough. quite enough. i know families are suposedly getting smaller, but you wouldn't know it. we were the only non-family people there... every other table consisted of two slightly overwhelmed late-20-something parents and three or so loud, boisterous, hungry children. at any given time, you could see kids beating each other, spilling drinks, falling asleep in booths... really quite a learning experiece.
that's going to be us in a few years. how terrifying...
speaking of terrifying, i understand that i am turning into my mother so i shouldn't criticize, but she's gotten in the habit of leaving extremely vague voicemails with rather open ended instructions. tonight's was my favorite:
"bridge, you have my debit card. i'm in the car now going to CVS, steinmart, and belks. i need the card, so you need to find me. just look for my car."
now.. one would *think* that because she called from her cell phone, calling her cell phone would result in some sort of informative location tip. but she refused to pick up. so i just drove through parking lots, looking for mother... never found her. i dont think she even went to those places. and when i mentioned the whole ordeal, she shrugged.
she shrugs a lot now. i think it's part of her yogi lifestyle. dad just walks by her sometimes and says "OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM" on his way out of the room. they're quite a pair, my parents. but they're cute. really cute. i'll miss them at school.
okay, off to get more stuff done. i'll be in greenville in 16 hours!!!
